Weekend Haul

Here's my small haul over the weekend to de-stress and enjoy life! ^.^

MAC Select Moisture Cover Concealer in NW20 for Php950- love the coverage compared to Shu Uemura concealers! I thought MAC concealers aren't that good but I'm glad I gave it a try before judging it too early.

Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque- at last! The ever elusive green facial mask has been re-stocked
I bought this at Healthy Options for Php329.00, boy oh boy I love how it makes my skin supple and my acne dries up faster!

A dainty floral dress from Zara
I spotted this from Rockwell but I refrained from buying it because the stocks are a bit worn out
Then I saw this again at the Mall of Asia, they carry relatively a larger volume of the dress and most are not 'abused' yet so I quickly grabbed one! ^.^

You can find cute floral summer dresses at TRF or Trafaluc for Php2,490
I was also eyeing Kamiseta's Liberty of London dresses but I found it exorbitantly priced at Php2,990 so I opted to get Zara.

Mall of Asia was having a bit of a sale, Mango and other giant clothing brands were having their sale but Zara didn't participate, that's okay, I don't want to wait for the sale, if I wait for a couple of months the dress might have been out of stock.

The last leg of this shopping is a purple bandeau from Calliope
Calliope is on sale so I went in their store not knowing what to get, I was just planning to window shop but I thought I found a good bargain, this is originally priced at Php299 but I got it for Php199. Bandeaus from Kamiseta and Karimadon costs almost the same price too!

FOTD: Simply Primped and Polished

This would be one of the rarest times Maquillage Lover puts up an FOTD!
After doing this makeup I felt it looks simple and yet pretty so I'd like to share this with you.

Japanese make up makes the prettiest sheer color;
it gives an illusion as if you're wearing almost nothing at all but you look so primp and polish with just a light touch of color here and there.
Just the way I like my makeup! Not too over done with shocking colors but not too bare that my eye bags are saying hello to the world!
I made this FOTD last Sunday before going out.

Here's the product lineup:
Shiseido eyelash curler, Taiwan version
Shu Uemura Pro Concealer
UDPP in Eden
Majolica Majorca Lash Expander Frame Plus
Jill Stuart Jewel Crystal Eyes in Princess Sapphire
Jill Stuart Eye Jelly in Midnight Shine

Jill Stuart lipstick in Baby Coral
Shiseido PN Primalise Gloss
Kiehl's lip balm #1

Jill Stuart Moist Silk Liquid Foundation
Benefit 10
Jill Stuart Mix Blush in Fresh Apricot

Graduation Came

At laaast!!! After almost four years of studying at De La Salle University-Manila
Graduation came...
It was a bittersweet moment for all of us
We're happy that we're done and we're ready to embark to the next journey of our lives
We're sad that we won't be seeing each other often.

I'm glad I graduated with my close friend and block mate Abi
I'm sad I didn't graduate with my other block mates and friends (same sentiment with Abi haha)
But at least we got through college together though we're colleges apart.

Fixing my tassel in this pic, I think =p I just had this funny expression haha

When: Feb 6, 2010
Where: PICC
Time: 8am to 11am
Honorable Mention (but my 'badge' can't be seen coz of my long hair)

P.S. I love Bro. Armin's earring haha, love him for tirelessly shaking our hands and smiling all through out handing diplomas to 900+ graduates and calling us with our nicknames.

Guerlain Parure Gold Precious Light

Honestly, I have not tried any Guerlain products because I am still a student and I could not afford to shell out a lot of money for make-up- yet. Guerlain is on top of my list once I earn my own money.

Lately I have been having trouble sleeping due to stress and when I wake up, dark circles greet me "Good Morning!" Last Tuesday my friend who's shopping for make-up for his thesis music video shoot bought a dual ended concealer and highlighter. The SA showed us how to use a highlighter and oh wow! It does make your complexion brighter.

Ms. Sigrid, a very friendly person from Luxasia emailed me their Guerlain catalogue and I remember seeing Guerlain Parure Gold Precious Light (Php2350). I quickly looked it up on my catalog and found out it has anti-wrinkle properties too. Now this is definitely on my list of things to buy once I get some moolah! I have dark circles and fine lines under my eyes even at the age of 20 due to stress; I also have the habit of sleeping late in the evening so if you’re like me, please try to sleep early or else when you get older it will haunt you back. Now even if I’m trying to combat wrinkles by slathering on anti-wrinkle cream the results are still at a minimum.

When I’m putting on cream concealer under my eyes, sometimes I pat and when I need to blend on areas that are hard to reach, I tend to tug a bit harder than the usual and it also contributes to fine lines. Hopefully with Guerlain Parure Gold Precious Light’s pen type applicator, blending concealer on hard to reach areas would be a cinch.

Shu Uemura Pro Concealer

As promised, I will start on my reviews on my recent haul on the Beauty Luxe Sale.

I've been using Shu Uemura Pro Concealer for a while now and I must say I am impressed with the result. I developed a phobia using cream concealers because I thought it doesn't really blend well for my under eyes, I have to play tug of war with The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil Concealer to distribute the pigment properly but when I distribute it 'properly', it won't conceal and I end up removing all the concealer under my eyes; but that was before when I was young and naive and I didn't really know what's the real purpose of The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil Concealer.

The brand Shu Uemura taught me that make up shouldn't be so complicated and it's the make-up that should do the trick for you and not the other way around. Concealers should conceal regardless of the specialty it's geared towards to and The Body Shop failed in that area. I felt it was liberating to use cream concealer under my eyes because for the longest time I thought it was a no no and I avoided it as much as I can because it made me feel horrible about my make-up skills.

But not anymore.

Shu Uemura Pro concealer goes on creamy, I use a small concealer brush and swab it on the pan, I pat on several dots on my under eyes. I put more dots on the inner darker areas and a few light dots on the outside. I don't have to worry about playing tug of war because the cream goes on very smooth and it dries to a powder finish; I just have to tap my ring finger until it's evenly distributed. What's more is that I don't have to worry about caking and sinking in my fine lines because it feels very light despite it's cream formula.

The concealer does not really cover my dark circles completely but I do like that it doesn't give off a fake grayish translucent color on my circles; it just looks naturally lighter which is a good thing for me because I find that a lot of concealers give off a fake look as if it is shouting 'Hey look at me! I'm wearing a concealer!'. I haven't found a concealer that looks natural other than this.

I know this doesn't cover my dark circles as attributed to my genes, I am still on the look out for my HG concealer but this is a great find and great value for the money.

Before

After

Another great thing about this is that once it sticks to your skin, it won't leave you until it's time to do so. Other concealers rub off or transfer but not this one. There must be something with Shu Uemura that's why I'm loyal to this brand; almost all of their products adhere on my skin until it's time to remove it with make-up remover. I know how expensive this brand is here in the Philippines so I take advantage whenever I go out of the country and I buy lots of Shu Uemura products there because it is cheaper and reasonably priced.

I rarely buy Shu Uemura products here in the Philippines but this is an exception. I got this for Php650 at Ms. Dior Co's Beauty Luxe Sale at The Enterprise Center, Level 3 Tower 2, Cor. Ayala Ave. and Paseo de Roxas, Makati City, Philippines. I am looking forward for next year's Beauty Luxe Sale and I'll be posting the details once Ms. Dior sends me the info next year. =)

Shu Uemura Haul

I got these today at Ms. Dior Co's Beauty Luxe Sale at The Enterprise Tower 2, level 3.
The loot:
Pro concealer in 3YR medium light (center right)
Rouge unlimited in RD 170 (left side)
Rouge unlimited in PK 308 (right side)

I absolutely love love love the lipsticks! the colors are really really pretty on the tube. I was supposed to get the Mark Cealer but it ran out before I got there =( but I've got the pro concealer instead. I'm used to liquid concealers because I find it easier to blend on my dark circles but I'll enhance my make up skills by challenging myself to learn blending cream concealers. Dior also said it's longer lasting so that's a plus for me.

I know a lot are complaining about the lipstick case because it looks cheap, but I am pretty happy about the crystal case because it feels heavy and quite hard to break. I dealt with a lot of crappy packaging but I can say this isn't as bad as the others I've encountered.

I got all of these almost half the price around 40% off! Ms. Dior told me that all of the products she has are her personal collection but she's very generous in having them adopted, I thought I was really addicted to make up until I saw her massive collection! I wish I had that much too though I don't know what I'm going to do with all of it, maybe sell most of it also before it expires and goes to waste. I also read somewhere that proceeds would go to Ondoy's victims so it is a plus for beauty junkies who are feeling guilty over their make up spendings.

Will be doing reviews on these babies soon!

Apologies for the bad product positioning, I didn't notice the products are facing me and not on the camera lens, obsessed much on Shu? ^.^

Ellana Minerals Concealer in Cheer

I had this since Jaq's bday since I bought her loose powder from Ellana too, I bought this at SM Makati where they had a booth. It's the first time I bought mineral make up so I was pretty excited to get this

So far, this is the best concealer I had and it's relatively cheap too! I bought the trial size of 1g for P100 and I'm not finished with it yet.

Though it's powder in form, it goes on smooth and creamy and it blends well as long as you have a good concealer brush or blender brush. It also does a good job of hiding my dark eye bags I inherited. You have to carefully blend this product well, if not there would be a grayish hue on your eye bags.

One downside though is that it doesn't last long so you have to keep this in your kit if you want some touch ups but I'm really lazy to do anything but comb my hair when I'm in school.

If you put on primers or any make up base though, there's also a downside because when I use a face base like my BRTC bb cream first before putting it on top, this goes on powdery instead and it really shows like it's shouting "Hey I'm wearing concealer!", so I don't use this too much anymore. I'm using bb cream everyday and I just pat on more bb cream coz it also hides my eye bags a bit sheer but more natural looking.

A slight qualm on my part is the packaging. The reason why I posted the actual picture is to show the packaging, when I bought this the print was already fading away and it still continues to fade but of course with the P100 price tag it's not much of a complain in my part.
