Shu Uemura Drawing Pencil in ME Purple

My personal mania with Urban Decay's Alice in Wonderland is almost over! We're just waiting for USPS to have it shipped so I can breath now and relax...

Today I'm going to review Shu Uemura Drawing Pencil in ME Purple, I got this at Rustan's for Php1375.00

The pencil is creamy but not as creamy as Urban Decay (it's almost sliding on your skin) but I love this because it gives you an ample amount of control and this is better on your waterline.

The color really stays put and it wouldn't budge! I tried using Kose Junkisei Cleansing Oil but I still had a hard time to remove this swatch!

Shu Uemura Drawing Pencil in ME Purple Swatch

The color seems a bit dull here but in reality there's a hint of metallic shimmer to this purple hue. I was expecting a blueish purple hue but I got a reddish purple hue instead. It looks quite metallic purple-brown already so it's quite a unique color in my opinion.

P.S. As of now I only have one set of Urban Decay Alice in Wonderland left, do you think I should get it? ='( I'm really really tempted but I'm still deliberating because I have the Book of Shadows 2.

Etude House Concealer and Eye Liner Brush

I am very glad I bought Etude House's Concealer and Eye Liner Brush! For the quality and price (Php128.00) it is such a great steal! I tried to use this today and it works a whole lot better than my previous eye liner brush from Suesh. I bought this at Etude House's first branch in the Philippines. it's located in Megamall. Now I wish they'd open in Robinson's Place Ermita, Trinoma, SM North Edsa and Makati area! =)

Like in my previous initial post, I mentioned that the bristles are quite soft and it presses down if you gently put pressure on it. I noticed that the bristles bend and follows the direction of the angle; it would not bend left or right so you'll have good control over the brush and it wouldn't go astray once you start lining your eyes.

The bristles are made of synthetic hair so this is great to use for cream or gel based products because it would not absorb the product unlike natural bristles. My problem with my previous eye liner brush is that it is made of natural goat hair so it always run dry whenever I'm applying MAC Fluidline or Stila Smudge Pot on my lids; usually I have to re-dip my brush to the pot twice or thrice just to get one full line.

With this one I just have to dip my brush on the gel liner pot once and viola! It would create a nice line in one swipe. This saves me a lot of product.

Using Etude House Eye Liner Brush and MAC Fluidline

This is my first time to use an angled eye liner brush so I still have to practice lining the inner corner of my eyes so there is a lot of crooked and smudged area. When you look at the outer lid the line is perfect and sharp which I love because it's a breeze to create with angled eye liner brushes.

Now I just have to learn how to use angled eye liner brushes on the inner corners of my eye and I'm all set!

A Visit to Etude House Megamall- Finally!

Finally! I'm glad my family decided to go to Megamall, the last time we visited Megamall was still back in April because it's far!

I only got two brushes because Etude House's stippling brush is out of stock but they'll be restocking next week and I left my phone numbers so they'll be able to text me once the stocks came. Hopefully it will come before I go out of the country.

Here are my mother's loot, all are priced at Php 48.00 and these are from the Petite Darling collection

Here's my loot: Multi Eye Shadow Brush and Concealer and Eye Liner Brush

 Multi Eye Shadow Brush Php198.00

After sanitizing my hands I opened the pack inside the Etude House and felt the brush, I am amazed at how dirt cheap this is and yet it's quite soft. It's not very soft to the point it won't prick your sensitive eye area but as long as you don't clumsy pat this on your lid you won't feel any pricking feeling.

Close up of Multi Eye Shadow Brush

This is made out of pony hair according to the packaging and it doesn't smell, yey! I am really scared with brushes that smell due to my past experience. My only qualm with this one is that there isn't enough bristles so you could see a gap or balding spot in between the ferule. I bought this because I was eyeing MAC 214 Short Shader Brush  but of course in reality I must be practical and buy the one I can afford (and then just buy MAC later when I'm earning my own money). I also like this because it feels almost a lot like MAC brushes- the shape of the handle and matte paint.

Concealer and Eye Liner Brush Php128.00

This is one of their good products in my opinion, the bristles are aligned properly and the synthetic hair is very fine that's good enough for a nice and convenient eye lining experience. I might get another one of this when I test this tomorrow! I have a lot of gel liners (5 in total) and washing one eye liner brush several times would wear it out easily.

Close up of Concealer and Eye Liner Brush

This is quite soft and it bends easily so you'll need a light hand when applying gel liners which is just good because you would want light hands when applying eye make up to prevent tugging and fine lines.

I love that it's short handled brushes so I could go near the mirror without bumping the handle on the mirror especially when lining my eyes.

When I was searching for this one and I failed to see it on the wall full of brushes, I asked the SA if they don't stock up on this one and she said no they don't have the angled eye liner brush. Okay then so I walked around and saw this in the gel liner section. Oh... Their brushes are scattered around and not just placed in one place. I get it, I hope the SAs would be more attentive next time around =) It's okay for now because it's just their opening.

Will I be going back to Etude House? Yes! Although Etude House products are hit and miss it's worth it to go and scan their products for good cheap alternatives to high end products plus they provide good product packaging (cute and sturdy) as compared to other same price range brands.

Now I'm just wishing they'll stock up on Duo Fibre Brush so I could pick up another Angled Eye Liner brush =p

More Urban Decay Alice in Wonderland Book of Shadows Photos

Here are some lovely eye candy photos of the Alice in Wonderland Book of Shadows

The pop out is very pretty.

I love the names, they're all so cute! The printed pattern on the packaging is very lovely too

Like the BOS Vol. 2, this also includes two 24/7 eye liners and one mini Urban Decay Primer Potion

There are some other speculations when this will be released, Purse Buzz predicted this will be released in March. I think this will be released a month or several weeks before Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland premieres in the theater as a part of their promotion. With this in mind I'm thinking about OPI's Alice in Wonderland and Paul & Joe's collaboration with Alice in Wonderland for their collections too

Stila Smudge Pot in Starry Night

As requested I am going to review Stila Smudge Pot in Starry Night ^.^ This Smudge Pot is exclusively available in the Smudge Pot Holiday Set.

Starry Night is described as deep shimmering navy. The consistency is very creamy and smooth; I love how the brush glides on the surface of the Smudge Pot. The consistency is not as strong as other Smudge Pots but that is okay since I can build the color up.

It lasts practically the whole day too! With this swatch on my hand, I actually washed the dishes and a big turbo broiler and the color is still the same- except that the glitters came off but what really matters to me is the color and it sticked on my skin even if my hands are soaked in soap and water for almost 30 minutes.

close up swatch of Stila Starry Night

If you would take a closer look, you will see that the shimmer is in gold. It looks fabulous paired with navy blue! Whenever the light hits on the swatch it seems like the navy blue color is glimmering when you look from afar.

difference of Violet and Starry Night

Stila Starry Night's formula is less coarse than Violet but I love the both nonetheless. I know there are some feedbacks that claim Starry Night and Violet are almost similar but I can assure you it just seems like it looks the same perhaps because of the camera and lighting. See how pretty and distinct both look?

My personal favorite would be Violet because I love this particular shade of violet while the Starry Night's blue hue is quite normal in the market (without the gold glitter) and it looks almost similar to my Shu Uemura Drawing Pencil in ME Blue (which I haven't reviewed yet!)

Urban Decay Book of Shadows Vol. 2

Yipee! I really am very happy that I got my Urban Decay Book of Shadows Volume 2, I cannot stress the looonnngggg waiting time before I got this, I ordered since mid September and I just got it early December. I personally would not repurchase from the same seller; I won't be posting the seller's site or reveal whatever wrong that has been done. It's Christmas! =) Let's not let bad vibes ruin this festive season.

Sob! I can't post swatches on this one because right after swatching the first row on top, I itched like crazy and small itchy bumps appeared. I quickly removed it with make-up remover and the allergic reaction ceased. It is weird though that I don't have the same allergic reaction when I applied Ecstasy and Half Baked on my lids today! =p Lucky me!

I just might use Perversion tomorrow!
Sellout is a nice champagne color, in my opinion it looks lovelier than Stila's Kitten

Ecstasy looks like MAC Stars and Rockets, I was lemming for that pretty purple eyeshadow then I went "Ooh" with Ecstasy

Half Baked looks very gold and I have been finding a good gold eyeshadow
I can't wait to try Flipside!

Misdemeanor is a pretty and unique shade of green, I have not seen this blend of black and green eyeshadow
Homegrown reminds me of Book of Shadow Vol. 1's Absinthe

I haven't used the 24/7 Liners yet but I accidentally swiped Bourbon on and it went very smooth!

Look! It's the momma Urban Decay Primer Potion and her baby! ^.^ so cute!

First page in the Urban Decay Book of Shadows Mini Look Book
This is quite a neutral look and the Book of Shadows is very versatile; you could go for a natural look or go for the edgy look.

I like how subtle and yet appealing the silver shade on her lids

I like her lip color ^.^
ris

This would be my favorite look; the smokey eye look done here is not the usual black and silver color combination; I think they used green colors and mixed it with Gunmetal  for her lids and eye sockets.

Really, I can hear the jingle bells, it's Christmas! ^.^

Stila Smudge Pot in Violet

Today I am going to review a quarter of my Smudge Pot collection. This Stila Smudge Pot in Violet is a mini Smudge Pot and it has 2 grams in the jar. I know it seems awfully small but these are pretty pigmented and a little goes a long way and I am having problems finishing up full sized make-up products. This is also a part of the Holiday Smudge Pot Collection.

Stila describes Violet as pretty purple with shimmer. (I agree!)

Stila Smudge Pot in Violet Swatch

First, with regards to the packaging I have the same qualms again. Maybe I have to say this again- Packaging wise Stila could improve with the cap by making it thicker and coat it with ceramic to help prevent the smudge pot from drying out.

I love the violet hue of this Smudge Pot! It creates a pop of color to your eyes since the hue of violet is pretty bold. I have been looking for this shade of violet since forever! I was trying to find a violet that has a right mixture of blue; not enough to overpower the violet shade but it just a perfect blend of blue in it that makes this a pretty electrifying shade of violet.

Another thing to love about this is that it is long lasting and crease resistant- more crease resistant than my HG pencil liners! Stila Smudge Pots would not budge as long as you want them to be but when it is time to take it all off it slides off easily with the use of cleansing oil and a bit of rubbing.

Stila Smudge Pot in Violet close up
Notice the shimmer?

One con though is the glitter in it. I love the iridescent glitter that creates more dimension and sparkle to your eyes but since the Smudge Pot dries quickly and tends to become drier as you go through your day, the iridescent sparkle transfers to the surrounding; if you like the pretty shimmery look it is okay because it won't make you look like a disco ball but I am very particular with glitters so I am trying to solve this problem until now. Another con about the glitter that you will feel it is quite gritty and coarse when you remove this by rubbing your finger with a bit of cleansing oil. However I am not alarmed by this because it does not feel coarse or harsh on my lids anyway.

Stila Smudge Pot in Kitten

Today I am going to make a review on Stila's Smudge Pot in Kitten. I got these from the Stila Smudge Pot Holiday Collection thanks to my boyfriend and Carla =)

I'm not sure how much this costs because this is an early Christmas gift from my boyfriend but I do know that this mini Smudge pot is 2 grams. I know it seems so small but trust me I cannot finish a whole jar of this miniature Smudge Pot.

Stila mini Smudge Pot as compared to MAC Fluidline

Why?

Because it is very pigmented and I just need a little to cover my lids.

What Stila says:
The verdict is in, and smudge pots take the prize for sexy eyes!
This unique gel eyeliner and shadow is an innovative alternative to traditional powder and liquid formulas. This clever little gel has an inky intensity that leaves powder shadows in the dust. A favorite for the sultry, smoky eye.
Apply with a liner brush for razor-sharp precision or smudge it with your fingers for more complete coverage. Remember to always close the airtight lid to keep the gel soft and pliable.

Stila describes their award winning shade Kitten as shimmering nude pink

A Php10.00 coin placed on top of Stila's Smudge Pot

My Review:
As you can see on the photo above, in case you are in the Philippines and you are wondering how big (or small) the mini smudge pot is, take a Php10.00 coin and place it in your palm and it's almost the same size with the mini smudge pot.

Packaging wise Stila could improve with the cap by making it thicker and coat it with ceramic to help prevent the smudge pot from drying out.

Kitten Smudge Pot Swatch

I usually use the Kitten Smudge Pot as an eye shadow than an eyeliner because the shade itself would not create a defined look.

I tried using an eyeshadow brush for this one and it is not such a good idea to use a natural bristles haha! I knew it from the beginning that cream eye shadows are best used with synthetic bristles because it does not absorb the cream based product. The next time I used this, I used my ring finger. I dipped my finger in alcohol first to disinfect and to help preserve the Smudge Pot because bacteria helps spoil make-up products.

Using your ring finger works well and the finish looks so polished as you can see on the picture. The left side is when I just dipped my finger on the pot and the right side is the more polished and evenly spread out swatch.

The consistency is great on your lids as long as you apply this evenly and it lasts quite a long time. It does not budge a bit but my only qualm is the glitter or shimmer transferring on your face.

I like to use this as a highlighter on the brow area to define my brow bone; I tried applying this all over my lid and it washed out my eyelids making it look flat but when I use this to highlight my brow area it works very well and fantastic! It looks so perfect with the way the light hits on my brow bone.

Tip:
Try to use an eye shadow potion, I use my Urban Decay Primer Potion and the color comes out more vibrant than the one in the photo.

Stila Smudge Pot Holiday Collection is REALLY HERE! ^.^

Whoopee! It is finally here at home =)

Here are some more photo opts and information:

When you get this out of the box it is secured with the molded plastic and the brush has its own cap.

Here the bottoms of my Smudge Pots mainly Kitten(upper left), Black(upper right), Violet(lower left) and Starry Night(lower right).

Here is the super cute tiny brush that comes along with the set.

Don't be fooled by the initial picture though, the brush is really tiny!

A close up of the brush itself, the bristles had a bit of fly away and was pushed back because of the brush cap being inserted from the brush top itself

The brush is surprisingly fluffy and soft like eye shadow brushes so I think you could not really use this to precisely line the eyes, instead you can use this to smudge the colors on your lids like eye shadow.

Stila Smudge Pot in Black

Stila Smudge Pot in Kitten
Isn't it gorgeous? I'm very excited to use this!

Stila Smudge Pot in Starry Night

Stila Smudge Pot in Violet
Starry Night and Violet seems so alike in the pictures...
I think that's only in the pictures, the Starry Night is nearing navy blue while the Violet is a pop of violet in real life.

The Smudge Pots are really tiny but I am okay with that because I am usually having problems finishing full sized products and Stila is known to dry out quickly
One way I know to prevent drying Stila Smudge pots is to store it in air tight containers. Plastic air tight food containers are good but if you have a glass air tight container that would be better because it seals in air better than plastic.

Also, unlike MAC's ceramic coated screw cap, Stila's screw cap is made out of plastic so you really need to screw it on tightly once you're done applying your make-up and store this in an air tight container.

Here's moi with the Smudge Pot set! ^.^
But I am wearing MAC Fluidline in Black Track there hihi.
(this photo is taken by my boyfriend)

Instead of doing all of the smudge pot swatch and review here, I will be doing swatches and reviews individually so I could elaborate further and road test each gel liner.

Thanks so much again to my boyfriend and Carla! ^.^ Christmas came early!

Oops! I forgot to take the back of the box
