Gold Dot Sale Haul

Before the year 2012 ended, Gold Dot had a 3 day 30% off on all items sale so 'twas the perfect season to grab the shoes I like. I got Gene in mint and Jackie in khaki. I was able to save approximately 500 bucks which is great!

Both pairs are comfy to wear and eye catching. People would sometimes stop and ask where I bought my shoes. My office mates love how quirky it looks. I personally like how soft the materials are that it's practically ouchless to wear. I was never the type to wear mint and yellow but I must admit, the pop of color compliments my light skin tone so these are love love love. If I'm having a bad day, I just look at the shoes and I feel much better.

Watch out for Gold Dot's buy one take... sale coming soon!

Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream Fragrance Free Review

December's cold weather is catching up and my hands are becoming dry once again, good thing I can reach out to my tried and tested Neutrogena Norwegian Formula hand cream. The thick balmy texture provides relief for my dry skin and it never fails. This has the perfect formula, it looks like petroleum jelly, it goes on rich and thick but it's never sticky.

I got this in Sasa Hong Kong, there are different variants but I personally like the fragrance free more. I have good news for you if you can't travel to Hong Kong, you can buy it here in Manila, I saw a stack of Neutrogena Norwegian Formula hand cream at Mandarin Supermarket in Ongpin, Chinatown for approximately Php300++.

Early this year I traveled to Beijing, China. I bought this along with me, I was not expecting a harsh cold weather but as the saying goes, expect the unexpected. My family had windburn except for me, I guess I have to give credit to this hand cream, I applied this all over my arms and legs. My family did the same and it relieved them of their itchy windburn. My father even borrowed my Neutrogena Norwegian Formula lip balm lol. Such a skin saver.

Other variants such as the fast absorbing ones have flip tops which is really convenient. However, the fragrance free variant has the screw cap tube, I just wish they'd change it to the flip top ones but it's a flaw that's easy to overlook.

Shoe Love! Gold Dot and Syrup

I'm quite fixated on shoes lately and so I went to Trinoma to get these. I really wanted Gold Dot's Justine in mint but I did not want to take the risk of buying online and get the wrong size so I beat the Saturday traffic just to check this out. It is Php895 at the Ramp with 10% discount so I paid Php805 but if you're confident enough with your shoe size, you could go online and pay only Php795.
I like how soft the shoe is and it makes my skin tone look brighter. Super cute! I got to match it with dresses and jeans.

Another good buy is People are People's Syrup's sparkly gold heels. This is quite a steal because I got it for Php699. The pair is gum soled so I know I won't strain my leg muscles trying not to slip especially if I'm going to events or places with slippery floors. The heel height is not too high so it's perfect for me. My only qualm is that my foot kept on slipping off coz I got a wee bit bigger size, the smaller size is too small so I might get blisters from that. What I do is I spray on my L'oreal Elnett on my foot and quickly slip the shoe on. Once the hairspray dries, your feet is glued to the shoes so you don't have to worry about anything, no kidding!

YSL Rouge Volupte in Rose Paris Review and Swatch

When I first laid my eyes on YSL Rouge Volupte, I knew I just have to grab one. Anything gold is my weakness and a gold lipstick tube is a surefire way to make my knees go weak.

I was a bit heart broken when I found out YSL pulled out of the Philippine market for quite some time now so I get my lipstick via pre-order websites. I bought this particular tube from Carefreeshopper during the Sephora 10% off sale so I got this at Php1800. I've been buying things from Ms. Armie's site for quite some time now and I must say she offers hassle free transaction. Your products arrive safe and sound.

YSL Rouge Volupte no. 27 Rose Paris Swatch

My favorite shade is no. 27 Rose Paris. It's a bright pinky coral color that complements my pale skin tone, I think the pink coral shade brightens my skin tone without looking pale or pasty, it gives me a nice healthy glow. This is my HG lipstick.

Texture wise this is on the creamy-slippery side so what I do is just pat it on my lips and pucker up. The color packs a punch, it's a very solid color on the lips so a little goes a long long way unless you really want to achieve a bold lip color. Staying power wise it is amazing, I don't think any other lipstick is at par with this because the color does not fade away even when I eat, as long as I don't apply a lot of lip balm or gloss, the lipstick will stay on it's own for a long long time. The only down side is that it can be quite drying after a few hours but a light coat of lip balm could easily seal the deal.

Shu Uemura False Eyelash Glue Review

Sometimes, it is fun to play with wispy falsies, it can change your look and add more oomph to your eyes. My go to glue is Shu Uemura's false eyelash glue. This is definitely pricier than other popular brands but I think Shu Uemura's formula makes all the difference.

I got this in Hong Kong, I honestly forgot how much I got it for but I know it is definitely cheaper in Hong Kong than here in the Philippines. According to Shu Uemura Hong Kong's website, this tube sells around HK$35.

I like the ultra small tube opening that you can actually glide the tube through the falsies without worrying about accidentally applying excess glue to the lash band. I usually allow it to get tacky first before applying. Unlike other lash glues, it stays put once you have applied it. Formula wise this is scent free and gentler to the eyes, other eye lash glues usually sting my eyes and nose because of the harsh chemicals but Shu Uemura's formula is holy grail material. This is also the most fool proof eyelash glue I have tried. It lasts all way without falling out even with oily lids. It goes on clear when dried so you don't have to worry about white glue peeking through your lashes. Removing this is a breeze and painless. What I usually do is soak my lids with Shu Uemura cleaning oil, wait for a few seconds and start pulling the lash band. The best part is it is pain free to remove, no tugging!

Shu Uemura 24K Gold Eyelash Curler

Yay! Giddy giddy me! When I went to Shu Uemura Trinoma to buy my powder foundation, I found out that they have also released their much coveted limited edition 24K gold eye lash curler. BUT I didn't buy it because I still have the original Shu Uemura eyelash curler and I am absolutely okay with not buying the 24K version.

Okay, so why am I giddy and why do I have this? On my way home I was talking to P on the phone about this and little did I know he planned to get one for me. One tiring night coming home from work, I spotted a package for me on my table and tadaaah! Kilig much! It's really sweet and thoughtful of P.

Look at that 24K goodness, heaven!

Performance wise it does the same as the original version. No tugging, just perfectly curled eyelashes. This works well on my thin sparse Chinese lashes lol! The only perk about this is that it is extra pretty and luxurious with the 24K gold plating. One thing I noticed is that this is significantly lighter than the original one.

Upon checking the label, I noticed that the 24K eyelash curlers are made in Taiwan as opposed to the original version I bought in Hong Kong that are made in Japan. Perhaps that could be one reason why this curler feels lighter on my hand than the original one. I'm not sure nor familiar with the production in Japan and Taiwan but both countries do produce great eyelash curlers. Both Taiwan and Japan made curlers works well on my lashes so there should not be a problem.

The Paper Kites - Bloom

When the evening pulls the sun down
And the day is almost through
Oh the whole world it is sleeping
But my world is you

This song probably has one of the most beautiful lyrics written.

Ben Nye Neutral Set Colorless Face Powder Review

Since my MAC Blot Powder was quickly running out but my oil glands are not, I quickly browsed various beauty blogs to check out what keeps these beauties' oilies at bay. Tadaaah! I found out that Ben Nye makes a fabulous and cheaper alternative to MAC Blot Powder.

I got this at The Style Quarter. I've scoured some sites selling Ben Nye and so far The Style Quarter has the cheapest price around for Php490 plus the seller is very very friendly and accommodating.

What Ben Nye Says:
This colorless powder blends with all skin tones. It is a must to set bright or dark shades to retain color. Special formula controls perspiration, making this perfect for high energy performers such as clowns or dancers.

Ingredients:
Talc, aluminum hydroxide, methylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben, sorbin acid

What I say:
I'll be honest with you, the main reason I bought this is because it is a fraction of the cost of MAC blot powder. I live and breathe MAC blot powder because of my oil glands so I finish a compact pretty fast. What surprised me was that Ben Nye is just as good as MAC's powder in terms of oil control giving me around 5-6 hours of oil control, if I'm in an air conditioned room sometimes it lasts longer than that.

Since this is in a loose powder form, the packaging is in a "baby powder" bottle but I'm not complaining. With the reasonable price and 49grams of oil control goodness, I'm happy and satisfied.
How do I deal the baby powder packaging? I just use my old MAC blot powder compact, sprinkle a bit on the pan, dip my powder brush, give it a slight tap or shake and sweep away!
Of course you can try pressing the powder by mixing the powder with alcohol until it turns into a batter like consistency and pour it on the pan, let dry and give it some pressure.

The powder is also like baby powder but once applied and blended well it will not give you a white cast. The product name says it all: colorless face powder.
I also like the fact that it is scent free, scented products oftentimes irritate our skin so avoiding scented products will cut our precious skin some slack.

After dusting some powder, I set my make up with Evian Facial Spray to get rid of the powdery look.
