What's a girl got to do when I have a tight budget though I have a huge huge huge hunger for makeup?
I've thought of a new way to curb my appetite and finally finish everything up!
For almost every product I have, I am putting a 'bait' on it just so I'd always use the product and finally finish it up. The 'bait' is another product that I'm lemming for.
I wanted to do 10 pan projects but the task seems so huge that I lack the initiative. At least I'm breaking it down by placing a carrot on my view and trying my best to run and chase that carrot, I'm actually finishing up a product and finally replace it with a new one that I'm lemming for!
The last thing I want is makeup tucked away unused but I really have a big appetite with makeup, it just doesn't show because I'm controlling and moderating my appetite for my wallet's sake. Money is hard to earn and we should live within our means, we would probably accumulate a lot of products we can't use up after a couple of months, so instead of buying new stuffs, why not just use everything we have up before buying another new one?
Here's a list of products I have and the bait:
Products I have = Bait
MAC lipstick in Sweetie = MAC lipstick in Cyndi
Shu Uemura lipstick PK308 = Chanel Rouge Allure Laque in Phoenix
Shu Uemura lipstick RD170 = Chanel Rouge Allure Laque in Dragon
L'oreal Blush Delicieux in Fresh Papaya = Benefit CORALista
L'oreal Blush Delicieux in Rosy Cheeks = Anna Sui Face Color Accent
Jill Stuart Moist Silk Liquid Foundation = Shu Uemura Face Architect Smoothing Fluid Foundation/ Anna Sui Liquid Foundation
Shu Uemura Pro Concealer = MAC or MUFE concealer
Urban Decay Primer Potion = MAC Paint Pot in Soft Ochre
Hope this method works! So far I'm using my MAC lipstick in Sweetie and Shu Uemura lipstick RD170 more often... In line with this project I've posted this 'Bait List' beside my blog, hope it works coz I'm really looking hard at my list. I'm thinking of putting the bait list on a Post It and stick it on my dresser's mirror so every time I'd do my make-up I would be reminded of the things I want to buy and the list of things I have to finish before buying new ones.
Wish me luck! <3
Wish me luck! <3
Thank you for dropping my friend!

that's a pretty clever method to go about motivating yourself! good luck with it! :]
ReplyDeletelol i appreciate your effort and ideas !!
ReplyDeletealthough i myself has given this idea up (using them up before buying) a long time ago...i guess that's partly because i'm more on the 'collecting' side, i.e. i collect products which are LE (and which I love). I wish i have determination like you .\_/. hahahaha
@Clover thanks! ^.^ good luck to me! I just sticked a post it on my dresser mirror so I'd be reminded to use my makeup before it goes awry!
ReplyDelete@Jennifer haha! It's quite hard that it hurts =/ sometimes I just wanna rush to makeup counters and just get the stuffs but I'm controlling it...
That sounds like a good idea. Hehe. I think I should do that for everything: books to read before I get a new one; clothes to wear to the point where I can get a new one... Neat, indeed. I SHOULD do that too.
ReplyDeleteOn my part, I'm just about getting interested in all this make up stuff. Pretty fascinating and fun, I must say, plus with your blog (I'm not just saying this!) I've got a nice guide to visit :P Really enjoying it, so keep posting! And all the best with your new goal. :)
PS, where can I get Anna Sui stuff here in the Phil? Hehe
Johna!!!! <3 miss you girl! Yeah this may apply to other things in life too =p Haha, have fun exploring makeup! I'll definitely post some more ^.^
ReplyDeleteAw Anna Sui is not available in the Philippines =( I think you can order at online shops that specializes on importing Japanese makeup like Adambeauty, Bobodave, Ichibankao, u may do that if you have a Paypal account but be careful with the Philippine post office, they tax heavily ^.^ I prefer buying from wehaveit43, no heavy tax and it arrives approx. 2 weeks but Bon's arriving tonight from Taiwan so there's no special orders for now =( Don't worry about it, you'll hear it from my blog if she starts taking special orders again ^.^ I have a looong list waiting to be imported here haha
Hi chelle, i've been following your blog for quite some time and this post inspired me to curb my make-up hauling madness and just stick with the essentials since i'm a nicu/nursery nurse where i need to put minimal make-up :) I'm actually at the peak of my addiction now since i find myself now buying mac blushes and lipsticks which i don't usually buy aside from studio fix concealer and powder.
ReplyDeleteGoodluck on your project and i'll also try your "finish-up this product first before buying another one"
hi Liz! =) thanks for dropping by! ^.^Haha, it comforts me to know I'm not alone in this battle against letting loose and buy tons of stuff I know I won't be able to use up... Good luck to you too! ^.^
ReplyDeletethat's a tough project to start & complete! goodluck~~ ^,^
ReplyDeleteHaha yeah =p thanks!!! Hope I can make it! putting a list on my mirror works, it helps me remember the things I need to use more often...
