I'm so happy! ^.^ I picked up my MAC 187 brush at Wang Lai's Mart care of Airvony. Airvony bought this at Shin Kong Mitsukoshi in Taiwan for Php2300. The reason why it is really cheap is because Mitsukoshi had their anniversary sale several weeks ago and Airvony was so nice to let me know about the bargain I could get for a brush that's worth Php3000 (Php2950 to be exact) here in the Philippines! It's such a steal! I am not sure how much the MAC 187 is in their regular Taiwan price, I hope it is cheaper than here so when you want one you could easily avail it in Taiwan and have it shipped here. Shipping from Taiwan takes just around 2 weeks (I think, give it 1 more week's time for allowance), much faster and cheaper when having it imported from the US.
Right now I'm still not using this because I'm just waiting to finish my BRTC BB cream before buying a liquid foundation to try this out.
So here's some info and pictures for you guys:
What MAC Says:
A large full circular brush used for lightweight application and blending of face powder or pigments. Use to create soft layers or add textures. Made from a soft blend of goat and synthetic fibres.
I know there are a lot of instances that MAC's brush labels often fade so I'm going to resolve this by coating clear nail polish over the label. (Hey! I paid a lot of money for this brush, I should at the very least see the label properly! =p)
I do not know if MAC Philippines' brushes get this sticker but in Taiwan, they indicate where MAC sources it's brushes and it is the Hakuhodo Company located in 7602 Kumano-Cho, Akigun, Hiroshima, Japan. I'm also very happy because I got this for sale and yet it's quite a new stock, it's made in February 1, 2009.
This sticker is located at the very tail of the plastic and there you go; it is authentic (Just by looking at the handle's shape and logo you would know this is authentic) I know someone's trying to ruin Airvony but I'm no fool in buying a cheaper MAC 187; I know she's a very honest and kind seller.
Taddah! In it's plastic cover, I'm such a proud mama =p I wish though MAC would put this in a box instead of a clear plastic tube. This costs way too much than their lipsticks (Php970) but this expensive brush needs more TLC!

If you would notice, there's a tiny hair that fall off but I'm cool with that, as long as it won't continue! For now it is understandable because the brush is hand made and it's new.
My initial review:
I rubbed my hands first with alcohol before touching this! I'm very OC with my brushes especially with this
one. I noticed how soft and yet firm the bristles are, this has the perfect softness and firmness to dot dot dot your face away. This is so soft that I did not feel anything touching my hand but when I put a bit more pressure I would already feel it's firmness.
That's really a great deal! And yes, MAC brushes are made by Hakuhodo. This company also sells their own line of handmade brushes but they are super expensive! MissChievous did a review on their brushes. :)
ReplyDeleteReally? So Hakuhodo brushes are more expensive than MAC brushes? Woah! :)) lemme check the review out!
ReplyDeletehow much are shu brushes over there?
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure but it's way expensive than MAC's I presume... I think Shu products are cheaper in Taiwan if I remember correctly I saw the pricelist on CozyCot...
ReplyDeleteI'll find Shu's phone numbers and give them a ring =)
