Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Lipstick RD 170

I'll review my Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Lipstick in RD 170

I also bought this at Dior Co's Beauty Luxe Sale for Php780 (mall price is Php1350)

At first glance, the color in the tube is a strong hue of red with dark blue undertones; it looks really rich, pigmented and solid without any glitters or other additives so I thought I must have it! I initially wanted to get RD 165 because it was touted as the universally flattering red lipstick for every girl but it was gone before I could get my paws on it! haha! Since RD 170 is very near to RD 165, this almost has the same hue of RD 165; if there would be a difference it would be just a slight variation on the color. The price is very very cheap and this is definitely a steal for a brand new Shu Uemura lipstick so I grabbed it!

Like the Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited PK 308, the packaging is also quite heavy duty and it is not flimsy at all.

The swatch on my lips doesn't do justice to the richness of the pigment; the swatch on my wrist is more accurate.

This also has the feather light texture and it glides smoothly like a lip balm; the lipstick also has moisturizing properties of a lip balm but you still need to top it off with another layer of lip balm or lip gloss depending on the finish you want. An advice would be not to use a lip balm as a base because this tends to bleed and the color moves around because of the lip balm's consistency so the lipstick itself is good enough to apply for the first layer and then just put lip balm or gloss on top.

Although this glides on very smoothly without the help of any lip balm, this is very pigmented so chances are you'll obviously get color everywhere if you're applying this from the tube directly to your lips. What I do is I use a lip brush to apply it on my lips so I can spread the pigment evenly even on the fine lines and I can control the application especially on the edges of my lips.

Be careful not to let this bleed; I have fair skin so when it bleeds, uh oh it's a disaster and it's very obvious. This is very hard to remove and it causes staining on my skin even when you remove the lipstick formula. I suggest the use of a lip liner if you're going to use a strong color like this one.

RD 170 also lasts long on my lips and when it's time to take it off, I have to meticulously rub the cotton with make up remover into the fine lines of my lips because it really sinks in nicely to fill your lips with color but I have to test this yet on how it fares when I eat.

  4. Thanks Jamilla! =)
I wish I could show you it's real color. It's really rich and vibrant in actual. I'm just using a video cam and with the help of an editing software I capture the frames and turn them into photos so the colors look pale and washed out.
