Paul and Joe Light Cream Foundation S in 31 Review and Swatch

Today's review will be Paul and Joe's Light Cream Foundation S in shade 31

I didn't buy the whole bottle but the nice sales attendant in the Paul and Joe counter did give me some samples- 2 to 3 pumps and it's enough to test it for several days to see how it works.

However, the shade given to me was a few shades darker than my original skin tone perhaps because of the lighting in the mall.

For reference, my Jill Stuart shade is Ivory which is the second lightest shade in their collection.

Here's how it looks like on my skin

As you may notice this is obviously darker than my skin tone

The texture is very smooth and silky, it's quite easy to blend using warm fingertips but it's hard to blend using a stippling brush.

There's a slight floral hint just like my Jill Stuart Moist Silk Liquid Foundation.

As you may notice my skin tone in the middle seems darker and it has a pinkish tone to it.

The coverage is great, it conceals my minor zits and evens out my skin tone because I can see how evenly my skin tanned haha =p

Paul and Joe states that this is their lighter foundation perfect for summer while the frosted glass bottle foundation is meant for the winter season. This would work well for gals living in cooler climates. If I live in a cold climate I wouldn't doubt for a minute to get this foundation.

However, I think that Light Cream Foundation S is not for Philippine-standard summer because it feels like heavy night cream on my skin and it tends to oil up- thus breaking me out =(

Though I didn't buy the Paul and Joe foundation, the nice customer service towards me by giving samples is a good reason for me to return to their counter and purchase their other products- I'm lemming for their eye gloss and lipstick! I just have to find out how much the two costs before hauling.

My recommendation when you want to wear liquid foundations in Philippine weather, choose something very light, airy and oil free. 

I've tested Shu Uemura Face Architect Liquid Foundation and it's more on the liquid side, it feels like second skin and it's as if you're not wearing any foundation at all. However there are bad memories whenever I remember Shu Uemura Philippines' bad customer treatment and policy of not giving away samples; they ask me to go to another branch in Rockwell because they claim the other branch gives away samples but I found out they won't give me samples too, it's a turn off and a waste of the customer's time and gas money. That's the only hindrance; I may buy Shu Uemura Face Architect Liquid Foundation but I don't think I'll buy it here in the Philippines. 

My HG foundation right now is Jill Stuart Moist Silk Liquid Foundation, I was wary at first because of the name 'moist' but like Shu Uemura, it turned out to be light, airy and breathable- I just need to blot more often because of the summer heat.

One of the reasons why I'm buying this instead of Shu Uemura is that I always remember Shu Uemura Philippines' policy of not giving away samples (even one tiny bit of pump) for customers to take home and try on normals days.

Anyway I'm quite giddy giddy with Moist Silk Liquid Foundation too! I heard it was sold out in Taiwan before so it must be something!

I'm not done yet with my Jill Stuart buys! I have a whole list of stuffs but that could follow when I get a stable income ^.^ Right? Must hold on tight to my money honey...

Beauty Dilemma II: Jill Stuart Moist Silk Liquid Foundation vs. Shu Uemura Face Architect Fluid Foundation

Okay so P&J Foundie is out of the picture, thanks so much to the ladies who have given me great advice ^.^

Today I called up Shu Uemura Rockwell branch to inquire if they're willing to give 2-3 squirts of their liquid foundation and they declined to give me any; I have to test it in their counter but I couldn't take a bit home to test it on my normal day and see how it goes .

That's a bit of a turn off for me, majority of my products sitting on my dresser are Shu Uemura products and it's becoming ugly to look at it because of the bad memory it gives me =(

So I am searching for another alternative and one liquid foundie cropped up

Jill Stuart's Moist Silk Liquid Foundation

I'm not sure if this is more liquid-y (yey!) or creamy (nay!), I have been searching the internet for reviews but I didn't find a lot except one which gave it a good review: http://atouchofblusher.blogspot.com/2008/04/jill-stuart-moist-silk-liquid.html

I hope it would be okay to ask my dear followers who live in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan or Korea who have tried Jill Stuart's Moist Silk Foundation and kindly let me know if this is greasy or more like water on skin. I want a liquid foundation that would withstand the Philippine tropical weather so I'm more of a watery liquid foundie gal.

Should I go for the Jill Stuart Tint Liquid Foundation instead? I'm a bit clueless =p scratch that, I'm really clueless haha!

Jill Stuart Pure Lasting Make Up Base

This one thing I'm also not sure of, has anybody tried this yet? How is it?

Of all the make up products I have owned I do not own a single primer so I want to try Jill Stuart's Make Up Base ^.^

Beauty Dilemma: Paul and Joe Light Cream Foundation S or Shu Uemura Face Architect Smoothing Fluid Foundation??

I'm having a bit of a dilemma here, now that my BRTC BB Cream is running out I'm scouring beauty counters for liquid foundation. Initially I really wanted to get Paul and Joe Light Cream Foundation S because I've heard a lot of great things about Paul and Joe foundations and the packaging serves as a cute display on my dresser.

I acquired 2-3 pumps of Paul and Joe Light Cream Foundation S sample two days ago so it was great I got to use it for 2-3 times also with my stippling brush. However the SA gave me a shade very dark for my skin tone, he gave me shade 31 when I would be on the shades 00 to 01 only. I became very tan and it looks so obvious on my skin.

I also found Paul and Joe quite oily and heavy- I'm not sure if it's just the container I brought which is the Diorsnow moisturizing cream but I can remember I wiped and sanitized it clean.

Today is the second day of trying Paul and Joe and a zit came out on my forehead. I just hope it's just me and not the foundation =( I really want to acquire this but if it really wouldn't work on my skin then I won't push it.

I was meaning to ask for 2-3 pumps of Shu Uemura's Face Architect Smoothing Fluid Foundation too when I got the Paul and Joe but the SA in Rustan's denied to give me any sample at all because it is Rustan's protocol not to give out any sample. I don't get it how it hurts them to give their paying patrons customers a mere 2-3 pumps of the product from their testing counters when Paul and Joe happily gave me some. Sephora also gives small amounts of product samples just so you could test it out for a couple of days which is the right thing to provide for consumers.

Anyway Shu Uemura in Glorietta told to to go to Rockwell instead because they could give me the 2-3 pumps of foundation I'm asking for.

I tested Shu Uemura Foundation on the counter and it was quite watery but it feels a lot lighter than Paul and Joe. Despite the bad customer treatment- I have another bad experience on the same day but I'm trying to keep negative vibes out of the way.

It seems like I would like to check out Rockwell's Shu Uemura and get a couple of shades to test on and eventually purchase one when I find my perfect match. Hopefully I won't break out from Shu Uemura.

But yeah I'm still deliberating between Shu Uemura and Paul and Joe =p

Kindly let me know what you think, it might help me decide especially those who own the two foundations...

L'oreal True Mach Super-Blendable Foundation in Nude Ivory

Tonight I will be reviewing L'oreal True Mach Super-Blendable Foundation in Nude Ivory, I bought this at Robinson's Place Ermita Department Store for Php900+, I'm not sure how much True Match foundation costs now though and if this is being distributed still.

I bought this when I was on my liquid foundie phase and I did not have any foundation prior to this so I wanted to get something that would blend and match my skin easily. I thought L'oreal's advertisement worked because it promises to match your skin tone with their slogan "Matches perfectly the tone and texture of the skin".

What L'oreal says:

• "Matches perfectly the tone and texture of the skin".
• Outstanding coverage without caking
• Perfect colour without tide marks
• A flawless finish, made to measure... Your skin simply made more perfect.

My Review:

First things first, packaging wise I like that this is packaged in a glass bottle with a pump dispenser so it prolongs the shelf life of liquid foundation; I actually used this for a year as prescribed on the back of the bottle. Like mascaras, liquid foundation is also notorious for expiring in a span of months because of its liquid component which makes bacteria breeding easily. I just find it weird that media does not prescribe throwing lip gloss or any other liquid product away except for mascaras and liquid foundation. The plastic cap is also made of thick plastic so you don't have to worry about it breaking.

Blending the foundation

The liquid foundation’s consistency is very good in my opinion. It blends very easily so you don’t have to tug your face just to blend this foundation. L'oreal True Mach Super-Blendable Foundation also has a slight shimmer to it when you will look closely- I think it has the same principle when you mix a bit of Red Earth’s Secret Potion or Benefit’s Moon Beam to your foundation to give you a bit of glow. What I love about the shimmer is that it sticks and does not fall off.

What I don’t like about this product is that it settles into fine lines so if you have fine lines you might want to opt for a primer that fills in your fine lines. I have fine lines under my eyes and my forehead so this is a bit of trouble for me haha! Otherwise this is a great product if you are on a budget and you need a good foundation.
