The Body Shop Detangling Comb

Another The Body Shop post, I personally prefer their non-consumable products than their consumable make-up products for some reason I don't know why haha.

I bought this at The Body Shop in Canton Road for HK$39.00, I'm not sure if The Body Shop Philippines carry this wooden detangling comb, I have not seen this here yet.

The Body Shop explained that the wood used for their combs "comes from well managed forests, independently certified in accordance with the rules of the Forest Stewardship Council. A. C." Great right?

What I love:

  • lightweight
  • soft wood
  • massages the scalp and it's very relaxing
  • does it's job detangling hair
  • avoids hair fall because there's no tugging
  • no static, less damage for my mane, yey!
What I don't love:
  • The polish came off a bit on the handle but that's okay

The Body Shop Gel Eye Mask

This is lurve! Often times after stressing my eyes in front of the computer I give it a break before dozing off; I just look around and try to avoid watching television. After a while I put a cool and soothing eye mask to release the stress on my peepers.

Lately, I was disappointed when my previous eye mask evaporated just within 6 months of usage; I honestly don't know where the colored water went to. It was very very cheap I think it was just Php 62.00 I bought at Personal Care Exchange or PCX so yeah the price says it all.

I was not keen on finding a replacement soon but my boyfriend was insisting on getting me something for Christmas though he got me the Stila Holiday Smudge Pot collection and a water tumbler already so he got me The Body Shop Eye Gel Mask at Shangri La Mall located in Mandaluyong City. We got the jumbo one instead of the small regular sized because it's 15% off! The original price is Php 350.00 but we got it for Php297.50.

What I noticed is that the liquid inside is not just any regular colored water but it's actually gel. So I guess evaporation would not happen any time soon =p Plus it retains coolness a lot longer because of the material and the size.

Instead of the usual garter to secure the eye mask, they use velcro straps which is okay for me but what if I wear them out because I use eye masks every night? Hope I don't wear them out fast.

I love the embossed THE BODY SHOP logo on the side strap ^.^ Glad I did not purchase this on regular store days and got this for sale!

I think this would not evaporate any time soon because I read the package, it's made in the year 2007 and the gel is still packed. Yipee! =) Great to pair this with foot spa!

The Body Shop Home Fragrance Oil in Cassis Rose

The holidays can leave us stressed especially when we go for Christmas shopping in bazaars where it is very crowded. Our schedules become hectic when we try to finish work and Christmas shopping before the actual holidays roll in.

What I do is that I try to slow down and relax before sleeping. When I'm very tired I know it is very tempting to just shut my eyes and sleep instantly but somehow it does not do me well as I tend to have nightmares. So these days I try to light a candle and use aromatherapy to soothe and slow my pace down first before slipping into slumber land.

I bought The Body Shop Home Fragrance Oil for Php 250.00 at their Robinson's Place Ermita branch and the 10ml bottle is quite a great value in my opinion. I just need a drop or two to soothe my nerves.

The Body Shop Home Fragrance Oil in Cassis Rose belongs to the fruity floral family so if you need something relaxing and yet something to gently cheer you up without making you perky then I think this is the scent you've been looking for. This smells a lot like fresh roses gathered inside a room; the scent is not too strong for my nose so it smells a lot like nature.

Do you notice how stressed people tend to have shallow breathing patterns? Stressed people tend to take in less oxygen and it leads to tightening of the muscles and muscle aches. This fragance oil feels like fresh botanical air and it invites me to breathe in more oxygen thus making me more relaxed as the stressed, tired and oxygen deprived muscles loosen up.

The Body Shop Brilliance Powder in Shimmer Gold

I have had The Body Shop Brilliance Powder in Shimmer Gold for quite a long time now and it costs around Php900+, I bought it at Robinson’s Place Manila as it became my second home since I was 10 years old!

What The Body Shop says:
Just push the button and the Brilliance Powder is in the brush. A lightweight sparkle powder with shimmering pearls that provides a natural-looking sun-kissed finish for the face and body. Available in a shimmer or matte finish. Dermatologically tested.

Brilliance Powder contains the following key ingredients ....
Marula oil - Is a very effective moisturiser that also helps to condition the skin over time. Also provides essential fatty acids that help to repair the skin's moisture barrier, thus helping to restore moisture, smoothness and suppleness. Provides women in marginalis
Vitamin E - Is an antioxidant that helps to soften, condition and protect the skin.
Light diffusing particles - Instantly brighten the skin and help reduce the appearance of fine lines.

Mica (Opacifier), Talc (Absorbent/Bulking Agent), Nylon-12 (Absorbent/Bulking Agent), Polyethylene (Opacifier), Silica (Absorbent), PTFE (Bulking Agent), Sclerocarya birrea (Marula Oil) (Skin Conditioning Agent), Phenoxyethanol (Preservative), Tocopheryl Acetate (Antioxidant), Methylparaben (Preservative), Tetrasodium EDTA (Chelating Agent), CI 77891 (Colour), CI 77491 (Colour), CI 77492 (Colour), CI 77499 (Colour).

Pump the button to push the powder through to the brush, and sweep over the face and body.

My Review:
The first thing that attracted me into buying this is the push button applicator and I was looking for some shimmer product that time. I am quite pale and I think a bronzer would look obvious on me so I opted to get the lighter version of it.

The push button mechanism takes a while before it starts to release the powder and once I overdid it and the powder came out like it is almost flowing haha! After that I have learned , to control it and I would usually push it for 3 to 4 times and it would be great.

The brush applicator is very coarse so I do not recommend using this for the face, I would opt to use a medium sized fluffy powder brush and transfer the highlighter from the coarse brush to the softer brush so I would prevent scratching my skin.

Personally, the glitter is too obvious when placed on the face but just right when dusted on the body since a person’s face is drastically smaller compared to our body so I would just use this if I want a little sparkle here and there. The glitter fall out is really bad but it does not mean I will toss this out; it just means I have to think of ways on how not to waste this product. One solution can be applying a light layer of moisturizer on your body before dusting this on.

What I love though is that when the glitter falls out, the real shimmer is revealed. The golden shimmer just looks stunning on pale skin and it makes my complexion look healthier and not pasty. This is great to wear for the holidays in my opinion! =)
